BE INFORMED!

I am providing links to documents online and on my site about some of the items proposed or passed in our Ohio Legislature which show just how far out of touch the current legislative bodies are. In an effort to convince the voters that Ohio is in dire economic straits, they are passing an agenda, not for the good of the voters and citizens of the State, but following the money, it is too easy to see it is an agenda where they line the pockets of their contributors, more concerned with making them rich than allowing the hard working citizens they represent to make an honest living.

My favorite web site which monitors and researches legislation in the State: POLICY MATTERS

I confess that I usually vote pretty liberal for a reason, I am convinced that the right does little for the workers in any State. I do however watch the voting records and seeing votes I disagree with I do write my representatives to let my opinion be known as should we all. I don't care what your political leanings are, be informed when you vote, and most of all, be sure to vote!

Public Employees did NOT create the State budget problems!

"Government employees and public-sector unions are the folks conservatives love
to tar for the unpleasant fiscal situation in state and local governments. But there is
little evidence that government workers or public-sector unions are responsible for
budget deficits." See full document here

Step ONE: Public Unions

Regarding Kasich's attempt to take away the rights of public workers: SB5 limiting collective bargaining for public workers.

As a teacher, the first thoughts on why I would ask for you to vote against SB5 would be financial. And it is, though the pension limits in the bill, I already pay that amount. The Merit pay, bring it on just as soon as you tell me how elective teachers will be judged fairly. More than either of those, losing a voice, a united voice on how best to teach our kids. Our Union, the Columbus Education Association is leading the way with reforms such as PAR, adopted natinwide for new teachers and for those in trouble in the classroom. Everything they have talked about, is what is best for the kids before concerns with teacher's rights! I am also a member of TBS, Teachers for Better Schools which is the political action side of our Union and proud to comtribute!

Losing rights, beginning with the Patriot act where any American can be held, without bail, for an unlimited amount of time just seems wrong! The ability of the FBI to knock on your door, warrentless, with no recourse, again, just plain wrong. Now in Ohio we are losing one basic right, one which has put food on my table nearly all of my working life, and that is a right to bargain collectively. Most observers will question even those motives, but think for one second, if they can do this to the Unions, what is to stop them from doing it in your workplace? Oh right... look below!

Step two: Everyone else who said it couldn't happen to them

Kasich is now looking to limit overtime pay for workers in the PRIVATE sector with HB 61... The best one yet.

Whether or not you agree with SB5 which will be on the ballot in November, look at his attempt to limit YOUR overtime pay! HB61 The first sentence in the bill: The bill affords certain private-sector employers the option to offer the accrual and use of compensatory time to their employees. Employers already have that option, why is this bill necessary except to find a legal way for employers to skirt paying ALL of your earned overtime?

Other legislation: HB136 on vouchers for Education
Not to forget HB1 creating the Jobs Ohio, now being challenged in court as unconstitutional!

An informative web site from Washington regarding the Economy and Jobs! Think your wages have been stagnant for a while? Spend some time looking at it!
A totally LEFT leaning web site, but informative none the less! My favorite recent one is on Donald Trump. Yeah, he would be a great president for you, if you are a bank!
A favorite!
Wisconson Governor Walker called out on his anti-union tactics in the House... Thank you Kucinich!

Secceed from the Union, until, ah... Oh, now in Texas, the State whose Governor has in the past called for seccession from the Union is now asking for Federal dollars in declaring a disaster zone due to fires. Sorry Governor Perry, can't have it both ways!
It is a long read, but take a look at the history of the Union movement to see what it has brought for all workers! From the Economic Policy Institute
From above: To quote the ending: "Workers’ freedom to form unions is, and should be, considered a fundamental human right. Seventy years ago, the LaFollette Senate Committee concluded that “The denial of this right [to organize] was the most important problem of civil liberties before the Nation.” The committee emphasized that “denying workers the right to organize almost invariably meant denying them the fundamental civil rights which are the basis of our democratic system” (Swidorski 2003, 57). Strengthening free choice in the workplace lays the basis for ensuring a more prosperous economy, a healthier society, and a stronger democracy."

More for my entertainment mostly!!!

The End of Trump's campaign!

Stimulating Hypocrisy: Scores of Recovery Act Opponents Sought Money Out of Public View

From the above web site, here is the letter from McConnell requesting funds from the Recovery act which he still bad mouths and voted against.
The best news of the year to date: Goodbye Glenn Beck! I guess my only question is what took Fox so long to realize Beck was bad even for their business?
Then there is the Blame Obama crowd for the economy, the unemployment rate, and the financial mess we are still climbing out of. As this chart shows, how soon they forget!

unemployment levels

Pavorite website: Factcheck.org to see how badly most politicians lie, both sides manage to stretch the truth, more reason to be informed before voting!

Below are the remnants of the original version of this page:

Bush while stlil president:

Our President started out wonderfully in Afghanistan but has left it behind to the drug cartels to finance terrorism. Our president has distracted the American people (Ok, lied to the American people) about the WMD in Iraq as cause for an unjust war. Let's get the focus back where it belongs and find the mastermind behind the 9-11 terrorism attacks, after all, Sudam did not drive any planes into the twin towers. I still have not seen convincing evidence of any connection between Sudam and Al-Queda , and we have yet to find any WMD of the quantity or types we were brainwashed to believe existed in Iraq.

The independent 9/11 Commission has found "no credible evidence that Iraq and Al Qaeda cooperated on attacks against the United States."

To be against the war and our President's policies that got us there, I can still support the troops and admire them for their courage, and can only imagine the pain caused to thousands of families of the killed and wounded soldiers. To all of those who believe this is a noble war and one deserving to be fought, go to your nearest recruiter and enlist (if only to show your support). The picture below in meant to remind us of the true cost of the war in Iraq! Oh, and were you aware that the photographer lost their job as the Administration doesn't want the truth to be seen!

This link speaks for itself!

What national debt?

So we begin into the 112th Congress and finally, a chance for the Republicans to show us how or if they can lead having control of the House. Not out to a great start, swearing in of two members in front of a TV befroe letting them oversee hearings and vote while not officially a member. The saga of NO continues!
